Alba is the Gaelic name for my home country, and is also from the same root as white, fitting for some Scottish birches.
Last year I made my first journey to Scotland since I moved here in 2004. It was amazing to see my brother and sister in person and to revisit my hometowns. I hadn’t realised just how much I had missed being away.
I’m so glad to have had the chance to visit, especially since I don’t know when I will be able to see my family again. They are an impossible distance away.
The trees that I used in this series come from this visit, and the colours are the softer, muted ones that will remind me of my October trip. We can’t always be physically close to the ones we love, but they are always with us nonetheless.
